Garden irrigation

In this presentation Martin will guide us through exploring the basic elements of an irrigation system for our gardens, how they come together and how they work. He will also briefly discuss smart controllers, sprinklers and drip irrigation components.

About Martin Carrion

Martin has been creating and constructing landscapes since 1992. Born into a landscaper family, he is a third generation practicing landscape design and construction professional. After acquiring his C-27 contractor’s license, he started his own business, Landscape Symphonies in 2009, and continues to increase his skills in several areas.

Efficient irrigation is an important aspect of sustainability, and one of Martin’s favorite subjects. He has taken numerous irrigation workshops in order to improve his knowledge and skills and is passionate about teaching these skills. He has participated with ReScape California and EcoLandscape California in several workshops as a student as well as instructor to both English- and Spanish-speaking professionals and homeowners. He is certified by Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL), and a Water Wise Landscape Profession member with G3.
Martin has worked as a contractor for and is currently the President of the Sacramento District of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD). In this capacity he has worked with government agencies and colleagues in sustainable programs, such as Sustain the Gains, a front-yard conversion contest with the City of Roseville Water Efficiency. He has prepared and presented online workshops focused on sustainable landscape principles and practices with the cities of Sacramento and Citrus Heights. The Association promotes the Watershed approach to Landscape and organizes many educational events. Martin has been both organizer and speaker at several of these events, among the most recent, ”Show the Flow” and “Slow the Burn”, both of which focus on different aspects of what it means to practice Regenerative landscape principles.
