Knowing your Foothill Growing Zones and how to grow Fruit Trees

A workshop on growing citrus trees in the foothills  – the dos and don’ts as well as the right varieties to grow at that elevation.  Also, I’ll be discussing best practices for fall and winter gardening.

About Jan Kendel

Jan Kendel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture with a minor in chemistry from Cal Poly.  She worked in the horticulture industry for various agriculture chemical companies and additionally, worked as a tissue culture specialist at UC Davis.  Jan retired from the Sutter County Agriculture Department as a pesticide Use Biologist.

Jan has been a certified UC Master Gardener for 37 years in total with 31 years of her service being in Yuba-Sutter counties.  She has earned a platinum badge which is the equivalent to over 2500 hours of volunteer service.  She specializes in pesticides and diagnosis of plant problems and issues.  Jan has lead numerous projects and currently serves on the UC Master Gardener Advisory council and has oversight and direction over the Learning Garden and all plant sales.
