We often hear the term Efficient Irrigation. We will explore what that means and how it connects to other regenerative principles of Landscaping. Furthermore, we will explore how the use of storm water and or laundry to landscape methods can help us to use water efficiently in our landscapes.We will also aim to help us understand how all these principles help landscapes to thrive and regenerate ecosystems in the soil, as well as support plants, wildlife and habitat. Building healthy communities in the process.

About Martin Carrion
Martin has been creating and constructing landscapes since 1992. Born into a landscaper family, he is the third generation practicing landscape design and construction professional. Since acquiring his C-27 contractor’s license, he started his own Business, Landscape Symphonies, in 2009 and, since then, he has increased his skills in several areas. Efficient irrigation is an important aspect of sustainability, as well as one of Martin’s favorite subjects of interest. He has taken numerous irrigation workshops in order to improve his skills and knowledge in the field. He has also participated with ReScape California and EcoLandscape California in several workshops as a student as well as an irrigation instructor to both English and Spanish -speaking professionals and homeowners. He currently is certified by QWEL (Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper), as well as a Water Wise Landscape Profession with G3. Martin has had the good fortune to be able to participate as a contractor as well as the APLD Sacramento District President with Government agencies and colleagues in sustainable programs, such as Sustain the Gains, a front-yard conversion contest with the City of Roseville Water Efficiency in the autumn of 2017, as well as in the Summer of 2020, prepared and presented online workshops focused on sustainable landscape principles and practices with the cities of Sacramento and Citrus Heights. He has also served as a board member for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, or APLD at the Sacramento District and California Chapter. He currently serves as the APLD CA chapter president and APLD Sacramento district president. The Association promotes the Watershed approach to Landscape and organizes many educational events. Martin has directly collaborated in putting several of them together, both as an organizer and speaker. Among the most recent ones,” Show the Flow” and “Slow the Burn”.
